Paid U2.com members learned today that U22 — the latest fanclub-only CD — may be on its way within the next few weeks. A U2.com email arriving today says “it’s looking good for an early May release” and promises more details as the date gets closer.

U2 Nominated For 2012 Billboard Music Award

U2 is nominated in the Top Touring Artist category at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, which will be announced next month in Las Vegas. Other artists nominated in the category are Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Take That and Roger Waters. U2′s 360 tour wrapped up last summer as the highest-grossing concert tour ever.

The awards ceremony will take place Sunday, May 20th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. ABC-TV will air the event live at 8:00 pm ET.

Bono: ‘I think I sound like a girl’

U2 frontman Bono has admitted that he can’t stand to listen to his own voice and thinks he sounds “like a girl”.

The Daily Express claims that the singer, who appeared on US TV programme The Ellen DeGeneres last night (December 1), told the chat show host that he is never satisfied with his vocal performances and tries to avoid listening to U2 songs.

“I do try to avoid it [listening to himself sing],” he said. “If I hear our songs on the radio I tend to turn them down. Not because I don’t like them or believe in them. Actually, my voice annoys me. I always think I could have sang it better.”

In October, Bono raised doubts over U2′s future when he revealed he’d be happy to end the group’s career now and said he had irritated his bandmates by questioning the relevance of the rock veterans in the current climate.

More recently he blamed the band’s disappointing headline slot at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, partially, on his choice of footwear, claiming that he was wearing the “wrong shoes” for the occasion.

Bono Reportedly to Perform in Brazil in June

@U2 is reporting that newspapers in Brazil say that Bono will give a free performance this June on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. According to a report on Terra.com.br, citing the O Dia newspaper, Bono will perform June 24th during an event associated with the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. The report says that other musicians will also be involved, but it’s “almost certain” that the rest of U2 will not be involved in the concert.
