See below correspondence we had with the Gresham hotel in Dublin for some “strange” reason they have doubled the room rates for the upcoming U2 Croke park gigs planned for 24th, 25th and 26th of July 2009.

I have checked a number of hotels in the city and its all the same!!!!!!

It’s typical of Hoteliers taking advantage of this in the current economical climate and its U2 fans are losing out.

Its a disgrace how they are able to get away with this..

You should check on 1800hotels.ie or hotelscombined.com as they check all the different sites for you and come up with the cheapest, might be better than going to the hotels directly.

We are all in the same boat!

hi jim

I see that he didnt answer your question, only gave you the prices for the dates you requested

People should start flooding the hotels in dublin with emails complaining about this blatent ripoff and keep doing it until they back down.this is typical of the greed that affects this country and another reason why U2 should play outside dublin - which is now 16 yrs and counting.(EXCLUDING SLANE -30MINS FROM DUBLIN)

ANYWAY, I FOR ONE AM SICK OF HAVING TO TRAVEL TO DUBLIN TO SEE U2.TO BE HONEST I DONT KNOW IF ILL EVEN BOTHER WITH IT THIS TIME AROUND ITS TOO MUCH HASSLE AND EXPENSE AS I WOULD HAVE A PARTY OF 4 THAT WOULD BE GOING.CAN YOU IMAGINE THE COST FOR A DAY OUT BETWEEN FOOD, DRINKS, TRAVEL COSTS, CONCERT TICKETS AND HOTELS! ITS NOT WORTH IT !!!!!

I DONT CARE IF ITS THEIR HOMETOWN THEY SHOULD PLAY AT LEAST ONE MORE SEPERATE VENUE IN IRELAND BE IT CORK,LIMERICK GALWAY OR WHEREVER. IF THEY HAD ANY RESPECT FOR THEIR FANS THEY WOULD DO THIS. I KNOW THERE ARE LOGISTICS INVOLVED WITH STAGES, LIGHTING AND PA SYSTEMS ETC...,AND FINDING SUITABLE VENUES ,BUT IN FAIRNESS ITS NOT LIKE THEY ARE SHORT OF A FEW EURO IS IT !!!! AND IT WOULD BE A NICE WAY TO SAY THANKS TO THEIR FANS FROM OUTSIDE DUBLIN FOR THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE LAST 30+YEARS AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE RECESSION THE WAY IT IS  HERE AND HELP KEEP THE COST OF SEEING THEM PERFORM DOWN -WHICH IS SOMETHING THEY PRIDE THEMSELVES ON WITH THEIR TICKET PRICES .AFTER ALL ITS NOT LIKE THEY WONT SELL OUT ANYWHERE THEY PLAY HERE IS IT?

although wait and see they will announce a date in cork and im gonna look like a complete prat but then are any hotel prices going up in cork over the summer? might be something for the lads to look into - but then again to be honest i wont be holding my breath to see if they confound us all.

Stay safe

Dave ( frustrated and fed up at being ripped off)  U2 fan

This greed runs at every level we see it in sport with munster, flights can triple in price they know fans will do anything to see their team play and know they'll pay the money a lot of us are in the same boat it won't stop me from going but it will piss me off to pay double the price.I hope there will be some radio play about this as they did for when flights were tripled for munster fans they named and shamed the airlines maybe this should happen with the hotels too.
